Privacy Policy

Information that is collected from the order form is stored and used by BUDGETAX Corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliates. This information is used solely for the purpose of servicing you. We keep this information private and do not make it available to third parties.

Rigorous Standards
We clearly recognize the weight of importance that our customers place upon the privacy and confidentiality of their business information that we process. While new technologies allow us to more efficiently serve our clients, and will continue to do so, we are committed to maintaining the rigorous privacy standards that are synonymous with our established and trusted name.

What information do we gather?
Aside from tax return information, we collect the following:

  • Credit Card Type
  • Credit Card Number
  • Expiration Date
  • Cardholder's Billing Address
  • Daytime Phone Number (optional)
  • E-mail Address
  • Tax Information

Transmitting Information
When transmitting information between you and the Budgetax server (such as tax return data or credit card information), data security is handled through a security protocol called Secured Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL is an established and mature Internet security standard with two dominant features: data encryption and Web server authentication.

Web Server Authentication
An SSL certificate is issued to ensure authentic and accurate identification of a secured Web server. This translates into a digital ID, or electronic fingerprint, that is included in the key used to encrypt the data. Only the Budgetax Web server, in this case, is able to decrypt the data that you transmit because it's the intended (and digitally certified) secured web server for the data transmission.

Data Encryption
Data encryption is the process of transforming legible information into a complex arrangement of illegible information. The only way to make this data legible and useful again is to decrypt it; to reverse the process of encryption. The data encryption aspect of SSL does exactly this.

SSL uses a private/public key combination to encrypt data when it is sent, and then to decrypt data when it is received. SSL encrypts data using a mathematical formula, also referred to as a "key."

Encryption strength is measured by the length of the key used to encrypt the data; the longer the key, the more effective the encryption. Using the SSL protocol, data transmission between you and the Budgetax Web server is performed at a standard level of encryption strength.

How is this information used?
The information that we gather is used strictly for order processing, billing purposes and communications with you where necessary regarding the status of your tax return when used in connection with Budgetax Internet Service processing.

This information is gathered only when you voluntarily provide it during the routine course of a purchase. This information is stored, with the utmost security in mind, in the event that the staff of Budgetax Internet Service should need to research and resolve any status or billing issues associated with an order.

How confidential is the information?
Your information remains strictly confidential and in total compliance with all lawful business purposes. We do not share or solicit this information to any third party for any purpose. Only those employees whose immediate job responsibilities necessitate having access to this information will be granted such access.
